Mountain Lake Park
Garrett State Forest Garrett State Forest is the birthplace of forestry conservation in Maryland. The generous donation of 1,917 acres by the Garrett Brothers in 1906 serves as the foundation of the Garrett State Forest, as well as Maryland's present Public Lands system. Mountain forests, streams and valleys make up the nearly 7,000 acres of Garrett State Forest in Garrett County
Casselman River Bridge State Park The Casselman River Bridge is located east of Grantsville, in an area known as 'Little Crossings'. The bridge was the longest span of its kind when it was constructed in 1813 for the National Road. It is one of the many beautiful and innovative stone bridges designed specifically for the National Road
Big Run State Park Campsites, fishing, flat water canoeing, hiking trail, historic interest, picnic, shelters. Boat launch ramps are nearby along Savage River Road for the Savage River Reservoir.
Deep Creek Lake State Park The park boasts one mile of shoreline on Deep Creek Lake, which is Maryland's largest freshwater lake. Visitors enjoy the lake for boating, canoeing, swimming, paddling and fishing. Several picnic areas offer excellent views of the lake with easy access to the beach and other facilities. Park trails on Meadow Mountain provide opportunities for ATVs, hiking, hunting, mountain biking, horseback riding, skiing, snowmobiling, wildlife viewing and snowshoeing on a variety of terrain
Herrington Manor State Park The park offers swimming, boating in rowboats, canoes and paddle boats, picnicking, hiking, tennis, volleyball and 20 furnished log cabins for rental use year round.
New Germany State Park Picnicking, camping, birding and nature appreciation are possible in the 400 acres of New Germany and the adjoining 54,000 acres of Savage River State Forest. Visitors can also enjoy the historic Casselman River Bridge near Grantsville and Big Run State park at the north end of the Savage River Reservoir, located eight miles southwest of New Germany State Park.
Swallow Falls State Park Swallow Falls State Park is home to the oldest grove of white pine and eastern hemlock in Maryland, with some trees over 360 years of age. This pristine grove of trees lies along the only officially designated Wild and Scenic River, the Youghiogheny. The Youghiogheny River flows along the park's borders, passing through shaded rocky gorges and creating rippling rapids

Great Allegheny Passage Great Allegheny Passage is a 150-mile system of biking and hiking trails that will connect Cumberland, MD and Pittsburgh, PA when completed.
Hagan House/ Kentuck Knob At 86, and hard at work on the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Beth Shalom Synagogue in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania and about 12 residential homes, Wright said he could shake it (Kentuck Knob) out of his sleeve at will never even setting foot on the site, except for a short visit during the construction phase. This would be one of the last homes to be completed by Wright.

Somerset County Airport Somerset County Airport is located four miles north of Somerset, Pennsylvania on Highway 281. Hotels are available in town, which is just 4 miles from the airport, and right off the Pennsylvania Turnpike Somerset exit, providing all levels of accommodations and reasonable rates. A family restaurant is within walking distance just south of the airport on route 281.


Parks

Forbes State Forest The Forbes State Forest was named in honor of General John Forbes, who in 1757, ordered the construction of a road from Bedford to Fort Pitt for the movement of an expeditionary Army. The Forbes State Forest contains over 20 separate tracts of State Forest Land in Fayette, Somerset, and Westmoreland Counties.
Kooser State Park In the heart of the Laurel Highlands at an altitude of 2,600 feet, Kooser State Park attracts visitors year-round to its 250 acres of forest and the beautiful trout stream that flows the full length of the park.
Laurel Hill State Park Laurel Hill State Park consists of 3,935 acres of mountainous terrain in Somerset County. The 63-acre Laurel Hill Lake is a focal point of the park. Laurel Hill is surrounded by thousands of acres of pristine state park and state forest lands.
Laurel Mountain State Park High atop Laurel Ridge at close to 3,000 feet in elevation, Laurel Mountain State Park features a family-oriented downhill skiing area and beautiful views of the rolling countryside of the Ligonier Valley. The slopes and trails provide opportunities for skiers and snowboarders of all levels and the lodge is a cozy place to eat and enjoy the view.
Laurel Ridge State Park The 13,625-acre Laurel Ridge State Park stretches along Laurel Mountain from the picturesque Youghiogheny River At Ohiopyle, PA to the Conemaugh Gorge near Johnstown, PA. This large park spans Cambria, Fayette, Somerset and Westmoreland counties.
Mt. Davis Natural Area -Pennsylvania's Highest Point The Mt. Davis Natural Area comprises 581 acres of Elk Lick Township, Somerset County, surrounding the rock known as Mt. Davison the summit of Negro Mountain. The top of this rock is 3,213 feet above sea level, and is the highest point in Pennsylvania. The elevation of the lowest point in the natural area is 2,823 feet.

Flight 93 Memorial Chapel Flight 93 Memorial Chapel is a spiritual memorial and perpetual tribute in honor of the Heroes of Flight 93, and all others who perished September 11, 2001. The founder and Director-Curator is Reverend Alphonse T. Mascherino, an ordained Catholic priest for twenty-six years.
Indian Lake Golf Club Indian Lake was developed in the early 1960's. Plans were made for a championship golf course.
